Mechanical Engineering Design Capstone

ME-487 and ME 4888 are a two-course sequence in Engineering Design, students will establish important features of the machine, system, or process to be designed, perform market analysis, establish design objectives, explore alternatives, conduct research, specify constraints. The course provides a student experience equivalent to an entry level engineering job. Students will manage and complete a design project. This serves as a transition between what is learned in college and “real life” engineering.
Administration of a Modern Police Organization

This course specifically looks at the topics and practices necessary to lead, manage, and effectively administrate a modern police organization. Students are exposed to the myriad of tasks and responsibilities taken on by police managers and executives. The underlying message of the course is that to effectively lead and manage a modern police organization, a police executive needs four things: The skills to lead the organization towards desired goals; The ability to manage the performance of those within the organization; The ability to effectively build positive relationships with the community; The ability to use data to inform the decision-making process and messaging of organizational decisions.
Structural Design and Dynamics Project

Our UND students are from a comprehensive design course which integrates engineering design and engineering science components of previous and ongoing coursework into a major design experience. Students will work on design projects related to structural engineering and structural dynamics. Structures such as buildings, dams, chimneys, bridges, etc. to withstand variety of load cases including earthquake and highspeed wind.
Leadership in Education - Theory to Practice

Do you have a leadership challenge you want to tackle? In this project, students will conduct research and develop an actionable strategy and make recommendations to solve a leadership challenge faced by your organization, stakeholders, and/or clients. The students in this course are Master's level Educational Leadership students, bound for roles as school principals. These students have experience as teachers, and all students go through a background check before being enrolled in this course.
Accelerate to Industry - Graduate Students
Accelerate to Industry (A2i)™ is an industry workforce readiness program for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers developed by the NC State University Graduate School . The program provides students with knowledge, skills, and abilities that establish long-term professional success. Students from various UND graduate programs, both masters and PhD, are available for team or individual project-based opportunities, and we are open to both paid and unpaid opportunities.

Public Health Evaluation class. Bring in doctoral students from the University of North Dakota’s Public Health Program, Evaluation class. Students’ knowledge covers various Public Health areas, with community understanding at the local, state and tribal levels with special curriculum emphasis on indigenous populations. Students will help assist in various roles within your organization pertaining to development of and evaluation plan throughout the academic semester from February 2021 to May 2021. This can be extended per agreement with student and UND. The opportunity for collaboration is available to any agency or organization that provides a public health service with Public Health or within Health Service Administration.

Students’ knowledge covers various Public Health areas, with community understanding at the local, state and tribal levels. Special curriculum emphasis on indigenous populations. Students will help assist in various roles within your organization pertaining to development of an evaluation plan throughout the academic semester from September 2021 to December 2021. Potential partners can be connected to students sooner depending on student availability and interest. This can also be extended per agreement with student and UND. The opportunity for collaboration is available to any agency or organization that provides a public health focused experience.
Social Work Field Practicum
Bring on one or more students from The University of North Dakota in the Social Work Department to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students are available for 200-250 hours of unpaid, for credit, placement from March 1 to May 14, 2021, . Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually. We are looking for placement sites where students can apply in practice the concepts and theories learned in the classroom. The students have learned in the classroom about many aspects of generalist social work practice, including interpersonal skills, counseling, group facilitation, and case management. Please note that all of our students will have a background check completed.

Bring on learners from the University of North Dakota to serve as your learner-consultants in a project-based experience. Throughout the project, learners will connect with you as needed using virtual communication tools. In your project, students will function as members of your health-care-focused interdisciplinary teams to design, implement, and evaluate a DNP project. In addition, under faculty and mentor guidance, they will analyze, report, and present the results of the project to you.

In this project, a team of students will assess and propose effective sales strategies for your team, based on your organization’s goals. They will examine the needs and motivation of your customers through effective research. They will also explore the importance of implementing a code of ethics and the role ethics play in developing long-term customer relationships. Upon completion of the project, you will receive a detailed report and presentation.
