Video editing - Community Engaged Learning, UM
Number of individual students required: 1 The office of Community Engaged Learning at the University of Manitoba is seeking for a video editor to create a series of documentary videos about the experiences of Indigenous community organizations in Northern Manitoba, Ecuador, Chile and Belize during the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic. The video editor will work with raw footage produced by various Indigenous organizations to create 2-3 short documentaries: Final videos should include: - Indigenous aesthetic elements, such as storytelling. - English subtitles and captions for accessibility (script will be provided) - Soundtrack The final videos will be submitted to the Kana Wain Dida - Virtual International Gathering for presentation on behalf of CEL's Indigenous community partners. Final products are expected by May 20, 2021.
Resource Developer - Poverty Awareness & Community Advocacy
1 position available The Poverty Awareness & Community Advocacy workshop is an experiential learning opportunity offered to faculties and groups at the University of Manitoba. The workshop gathers the lived experience and expertise of community members who face the challenges of poverty to address its root causes and recreate its everyday stresses. The resource developer will be responsible to: - Update and develop resources, such as available programs, services and community testimonies. - Assist with workshop development - Provide resources and support to workshop volunteers - Create content for a monthly newsletter
Indigenous content specialist - Community Engaged Learning, UM
Positions available: 1 The Indigenous content specialist will work with the CEL team to create a glossary and resource list to supplement a consultation project titled Working in Good Ways with Indigenous Communities. This consultation project involved nearly 100 indigenous communities, as well as Indigenous faculty and staff members at the University of Manitoba in order to create a framework for ethical Indigenous Community Engagement that can guide the work of Community Engaged Learning practitioners working with Indigenous communities. The glossary and resources are the final pieces of this project and are currently in draft form. The successful applicant will work with the CEL team to finalize remaining research and writing tasks.
