Debi Wong is an interdisciplinary artist, creative producer and arts administrator with a passion for creating and producing performances that centre the lived experience of female-identifying, non-binary and QTIBPOC.
As an artist administrator, Debi has quickly established herself as a dynamic leader excelling at strategic thinking and building cross sector partnerships. As the founding Artistic Director of re:Naissance Opera (2017), she roots her leadership in equity-seeking and anti-oppressive practices and centres innovation. Recent projects include The Apocrypha Chronicles, the award-winning podcast that uses science fiction and audio-documentary to depict stories from a futuristic society grounded in diverse IBPOC worldviews, OrpheusVR, Canada’s first interactive Virtual Reality opera (2020) and Live From The Underworld (2021/22), a new livestream series that uses motion capture and mythological CGI avatars and environments in lieu of costumes and traditional sets. - Companies

WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: re:Naissance started in 2017 by presenting updated productions of Baroque operas; now we create musical performances using digital avatars, game engines, real-time motion capture and live performers. Because of this shift, we are seeking a team of strategic thinkers and innovators with a background in business management and marketing to conduct market research that will help us understand our target audience and what makes our projects competitive and inform our developing business and marketing plans. We are searching for up to 4 candidates with experience in conducting market research and developing marketing strategies and/or developing business plans for any of the following sectors: Virtual Reality, Podcasting, Performing Arts (theatre, dance, opera), Video Games, Motion Capture, Live Streaming & Digital Production, Film & Television, Immersive, Non-Profit Management. Our team works remotely and work hours can be flexible and tailored to candidate availability. We are searching for up to 4 candidates with experience in business planning and business management (knowledge in non-profit governance and planning is an asset) as well as non-profit operations and Human Resources.
