Details

In this project, students will embark on a creative journey to design book covers for a collection of eight philosophy titles. The goal is to create visually compelling and thematically relevant designs that resonate with each book's core philosophical ideas. Students will apply their artistic skills and conceptual understanding to capture the essence of each title, ensuring that the covers are not only aesthetically pleasing but also intellectually engaging. This project provides an opportunity for students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, as they explore the intersection of art and philosophy. By the end of the project, students will have developed a portfolio of professional-quality book covers that demonstrate their ability to convey complex ideas through visual design.

Deliverables

Students will deliver a set of eight professionally designed book covers, each tailored to reflect the unique themes and ideas of the corresponding philosophy title. The deliverables will include high-resolution digital files of each cover (with the provided PDF template), accompanied by a brief written explanation of the design choices and their relevance to the book's content. Additionally, students will present their designs in a professional format, suitable for publication and presentation to the client, planksip®.

planksip.org is a place for Platonic scholarship and Socratic learning. This community of philosophers extends beyond the confines of a simple course with introductory concepts and familiar summaries of Plato that fall short of the Justice deserved for this intellectual giant.
