leadership problem-solving writing & communicationWelcome to Concordia University of Edmonton's Magazine Editing and Production course—an immersive journey into the world of literary and scholarly magazines. At the heart of our program is the creation of the inaugural issue of The Magpie, the English department's undergraduate journal. Our students not only gain a deep understanding of the editorial process but also actively contribute to the production of a tangible and valuable literary piece.
Learners in this program:
- Are experienced writers that possess strong editing & formatting skills
- Superior senior students with enhanced leadership skills and are capable of working independently with limited supervision.
Learners
We seek passionate business owners with clear projects and distinct business problem statements. Whether your project is research-focused, task-oriented, or a mix of both, we welcome your involvement. Flexibility is key; we encourage partners open to negotiating project scopes for a mutually beneficial collaboration.
Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the learners and the organization.
Some final project deliverables might include:
- A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
- A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations

Learners will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.
Some project examples include:
- Literary Landscape Analysis: Explore and analyze the current trends in literary magazines, providing insights and recommendations for The Magpie's unique positioning.
- Digital Outreach Strategy: Develop a comprehensive plan to enhance the online presence of The Magpie, exploring social media, digital marketing, and community engagement strategies.
- Reader Engagement Study: Investigate and propose strategies to maximize reader engagement with literary journals, including surveys, focus groups, and analytics.
