A Scoping Review on the Knowledge Gaps in the Current Literature Critical Race Theory and Anti-Black Racism Framework in Social Work Education, Research, and Practice - Winter 2024
This proposed research is a scoping review. This type of methodology seeks to undertake a comprehensive search of the breadth and scope of all available literature pertaining to the research topic and question. The main purpose of conducting a scoping study is to identify gaps in existing literature, to summarize and synthesize research findings from existing literature. The data will be amassed from published peer-reviewed academic publications in English from 2000 to 2022 through key word searches such as ‘social work and critical race theory and education ,’ and ‘social work and anti-Black racism and research’ in order to extract relevant data. Some of the electronic databases that would be used are EBSCO and ProQuest. The abstract of articles will be reviewed to ensure they meet the keyword search criteria. Those that are not a good fit will be eliminated at this stage. This process will be followed by an extensive review of the articles’ content to complete the final selection of eligible articles. This will be followed by the charting of emergent themes. The scoping review will be concluded with a written report of the findings.
