Quantitative Methods and Decision Theory MGSC 2103-0
MGSC-2103-0, MGSC 5151-12
The course of Quantitative Methods equips students with essential skills in applying quantitative techniques to solve real-world problems in business, healthcare, management, and other industries. Learners will focus on interpreting data, formulating mathematical models, and making informed decisions based on their analysis. With foundational knowledge in probability, regression, linear programming, and decision-making under uncertainty, students will use tools like MS Excel and Excel QM to drive data-backed insights. Employers are expected to provide regular guidance, offer access to all relevant project information, participate in virtual feedback sessions. Your constructive feedback will help students refine their problem-solving and decision-making skills through practical application.
Health Care Analytics Project
MGSC 5151 - 12
At the end of the course students will do the project in groups. The focus is on the main issues in the Canadian Healthcare System. Students will choose the project of interest. An example of projects can be: primary care, emergency department, community care, mental health and so on. Students will conduct a literature review of the issue and summarize main findings. They review main issues and steps that have been taken to solve this issues. Within the project students will look at data relating the topic and conduct primary analysis. Students will list best practices and suggest future directions. Other areas include the use of healthcare records; how are doctors and healthcare providers viewing and using EMR; how can better integration of EMR be achieved; a review of EMR technologies. Approaches in E health and reviews about its use is another area of research.
