Details

For the past 18 months our focus has been on creating physical resources. We now want to start creating digital resources such as videos to post on YouTube that children can watch to learn words and sentences in a new language. Your role will be to help us complete 3 specific tasks:

  • Conduct research on videos created by similar brands in the education industry - we will share some YouTube channel names with you. Your task will be to watch a variety of videos created by them and gather your findings in a document. This document you create will contain a) channel name, b) key topics covered by them and c) screenshots of a variety of videos posted by them
  • Video animation and creation - Create a short 2-3 minute explainer style animated video. We will work with you to create a storyboard for the video. We will provide any copy required as well as details
  • Video animation and creation - Create 5-10 short 2-3 minute videos designed to teach children new words. These will include basic animations. We already have illustrations and content from our books. Your task is to take those illustrations and add basic animations to help us create topic-specific videos. (we will provide illustrations - animation will be required to bring them on screen, and take them off).

We are looking for students that have experience with video animation and video editing to create videos. We are open to refining the scope of the project based on your experience and what you think you will be able to manage in the specified time.

Education

South Asians living abroad are struggling to transfer their native languages to their children. Our children are exposed mostly to English and resources available in native languages are too complex for children in the West. Plus, the parents themselves often struggle with reading the language even if they are able to speak it to varying degrees.

Our vision is to help preserve the use of South Asian languages. We aspire to become a leading bilingual edutainment brand for children of South Asian descent through a mix of high-quality physical and digital resources, with a focus on transliteration, e.g. Urdu written using the English alphabet.

We launched our first versions of Urdu-English books in September ’20 and now offer 12 books across 4 reading levels. We are expanding our product lines in January, have transformational improvements planned for next year, and a much more exciting vision ahead of us to offer multiple languages.
