The primary objective of the Editorial Researcher & Assistant Internship project is to carry out editorial research & assistance.The foremost aim of this internship initiative is to provide interns with an immersive and hands-on opportunity to comprehend the intricacies of editorial decision-making processes, content development, and dissemination across diverse media platforms. This practical exposure equips interns with valuable insights into the dynamic world of contemporary media. Through active participation in daily editorial operations, interns will engage in activities such as meticulous content research, rigorous fact-checking, and the meticulous preparation of written material for publication. This project will begin in January 1st following a kick-off meeting and orientation for all student-hires. The end-date for the project and deliverable submission deadline is January 31st at 11:59 PM MST.

Deliverables

Tasks:

1. Content Research: Interns will be tasked with conducting comprehensive research to gather information and data pertinent to various editorial projects. This involves utilizing diverse sources and ensuring the accuracy and relevance of the collected data.


2. Fact-Checking: Rigorous fact-checking is a crucial component of editorial work. Interns will be responsible for verifying the accuracy of information, statistics, and claims within written content to maintain the highest standards of credibility.


3. Written Material Preparation: Interns will actively participate in the preparation of written materials for publication. This includes assisting in the drafting and editing of articles, reports, or other content pieces, ensuring they adhere to editorial guidelines.


4. Editorial Decision Support: Interns will collaborate with the editorial team, providing support in making informed decisions about content selection, prioritization, and publication scheduling.


5. Audience Engagement Analysis: Understanding audience response and engagement is vital. Interns may be involved in analyzing audience feedback, comments, and metrics to inform editorial strategies.


Deliverable:

  • To achieve the project goal, students must attend the kick-off meeting for clear guidelines and expectations. They will be required to select or be assigned a specific topic, followed by thorough research on the subject matter. Participants will produce a finalised deliverable of a minimum 4500 words. Your work will need to be uploaded to the Riipen platform in PDF format and uploaded in the google drive in the Central Working Document provided to you at the start of the project. Continuous communication with the AIC team for feedback and guidance is essential throughout the process.

7. Peer Collaboration: This project encourages learners to collaborate with their peers. Group discussions, brainstorming sessions, and peer review can enhance the quality of the project and provide additional support.


8. Feedback and Evaluation: This project provides a feedback system where learners receive constructive feedback on their work. This helps them identify areas for improvement and refine their project.
