The semester long Human Resource Management class takes one client per semester and develops a complete human resource management plan for the clients. They can focus especially on clients who do not have a comprehensive human resource management plan or whose human resource department would like some advice or suggestions on adjusting their plan. This can also be a great fit for smaller companies that are growing fast and need to implement more HR structure. We do ask that the client have a business they have started or established.

The class will be divided into teams with each team focusing on one of possible topics:

1) Overall strategy

2) Recruitment and selection,

3) Performance appraisal

4) Compensation

5) Training

6) Worker engagement

The client will receive a 1 hour long presentation where each team presents their findings on their specific topic. The presentation will conclude with a complete implementation plan and timeline for the Human Resources plan that was developed and tailored to the particular client's needs. This is typically 40-60 pages.

Requirements

In the past, students have completed completed and provided detailed Human Resource Management plans for companies ranging from private country club that was growing their seasonal/full-time employee base; a medium sized nationwide company growing from 200 employees to 400 employees with no HR plan in place prior to this course; as well as other startup businesses led by entrepreneurs.
