Katia "HealthGURU'' Powell-Laurent is an award-winning nutrition and wellness expert, a practicing wholistic health practitioner, and the Founder & CEO of Black Girls Nutrition (BGN) & and the sister company HUED Mamas Co. Our companies recognize that the generational effects of unaddressed PTSD and the threat of "Real or Perceived Racism" have had a negative impact on the health outcomes for Women of Color. We are committed to empowering Women of Color to become healthier without sacrificing their cultural heritage.
She has helped her current and past clients lose over 100,000 lbs. while improving their overall quality of health. She has been featured in People Magazine, lost 200 pounds, is a Robert Woods Johnson Scholar, and completed her Doctoral Studies in nutrition and health policy with more than 20 years of expertise in nutrition, fitness, health equity, social justice, and medicine.

Project Title: Black Fertility Awareness Campaign – Marketing & Brand Awareness

The main goal of this project is to create a compelling social media campaign across multiple platforms that educates and empowers Black women on the impact of nutrition on fertility. Learners will gain experience with Flick Tech, participate in our invite-only Meta's "For the Culture" program, and video editing using Capcut, while learning how to present complex, research-backed information in an accessible and engaging way.

We would like students to help us with creating content that is aligned with our vision, mission, and sector. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are for our organization. HUED Mamas Co. is the sister company of Black Girls Nutrition (BGN). HUED Mamas Co. is the 1st Maternal Health Nutrition company that empowers Women of Color on their fertility journey to motherhood. Our company provides culturally tailored preconception nutritional support for Women of Color on TTC journey to Mamahood, without sacrificing the foods and flavors from their cultural heritage. Ultimately, you will be working on content creation for our company, including video, social media, and other collateral that we can use as go-to marketing tools.
