Lifetime Productions Ltd has recently launched the EthicalDigital.ca initiative. We are building a better future for the internet.
We have partnered with Neal Dempsey, one of the top Venture Capitalists in North America, and Ryerson University's Diversity Institute, to conduct research on the barriers women face in venture capital. This collaborative initiative was named, "The Allyship".
Fewer than 15% of venture capital and private equity executives in North America are women. There is a trickle down effect into the types of technology that is developed and the diversity of founders who receive funding in the industry. If we want a more equitable internet and technology development in the future, we will need to provide actionable insights for the funding industry to achieve gender parity.
We are launching our first podcast to encourage more women into careers in venture capital by unveiling stories from some of the most accomplished women executives in the industry. We are seeking a Production and Community Assistant to join our team and help us spread awareness through our podcast.
ABOUT THE ALLYSHIP PROJECT:
We are addressing the gap that exists in the venture capital industry for women and to finally push the needle on the abysmal statistics that drive the current narrative for women in the investment community today. We aim to accelerate the current pace of social change, and get at least 30% of women to make up the VC space by 2035.
Here’s how:
- Action: Our driving force is not just to push the conversation forward, but to ignite go-to strategies to encourage equity and equality based on our groundbreaking research.
- Legacy: We are dedicated to ensuring a better future for women in venture capital. The next generation depends on how they access capital, develop their businesses and teams, and create culture. We aim to expand our networks of allies across North America to ensure a brighter future for women and society.
- Business: Diversity should be represented in all aspects of business. We will work to assist existing and future companies create guidelines for more diverse and inclusive spaces.
- Access: Capital, resources and networks shouldn’t be withheld exclusively. We will build a community platform that allows for greater involvement and access for everyone, including women.
THE ALLYSHIP PODCAST:
The Allyship Podcast, was created to spread awareness of our broader initiative to foster gender parity in VC. The host, Neal Dempsey, dives deep into the minds of North America’s leading Venture Capitalists. These are the real stories and insider knowledge you need to unlock the power of diversity and understand the closed-network of venture capital.
In each episode, we venture down to a new learning path, giving you insights into the most relevant issues women in venture capital are facing today and how to solve them. We’ll be sharing the unique journeys and go-to resources that women venture capitalists rely on to succeed.
