palliative care hospice researchThe main goal for the project is to support the development of new grief and bereavement indicators to add to the hospice quality measurement platform for Hospice Palliative Care Ontario. This will involve several different steps for the project team, including:
- Researching existing grief and bereavement indicators used in hospice care.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals and bereavement experts to understand the specific needs and challenges in Ontario.
- Developing new indicators that are sensitive to the cultural and social diversity of the population in Ontario.
- Testing and validating the new indicators to ensure their effectiveness in measuring the quality of hospice care in relation to grief and bereavement support.
By the end of the project, the team should complete the following tasks:
- A comprehensive report on the research findings of existing grief and bereavement indicators.
- Documentation of the collaboration with healthcare professionals and bereavement experts, including their input and feedback.
- A set of new grief and bereavement indicators tailored to the needs of Ontario's diverse population.
- Validation results and recommendations for implementing the new indicators into the hospice quality measurement platform.
Final deliverables:
- A detailed report outlining the development process, testing results, and recommendations for implementation.
- Documentation of the new indicators and their specific criteria for measurement.
- Presentation materials for sharing the project outcomes with stakeholders and the public.
Student will receive an initial orientation to HPCO and the project through the self-study of prepared materials and through an orientation meeting with the Director.
Students will present suggested research articles to the Director and work together to decide which articles to write lay summaries of.
Students will meet with the Director on a weekly basis to review project progress and receive feedback. The Director will review the student's draft lay summaries and provide feedback. Students can also email or communicate through messaging software with the Director between scheduled meetings to request further direction and feedback.
The student will also have the opportunity to interact with the staff team to learn more about the various roles at HPCO.
