This is to establish the impact of a robust cleantech and ecotech ecosystem on the Canadian economy and our decarbonization goals.
This will involve several different steps for the students, including:
- Conducting research on the state of cleantech and ecotech entrepreneurship in Canada.
- Conducting research on the current state of start-up investment in Canada, with a specific focus on eco-tech and cleantech.
- Analyzing the progression and/or regression that has occurred in the Canadian cleantech and eco-tech landscape.
- Identifying the unique challenges facing Canadian founders/entrepreneurs in the cleantech and eco-tech space.
- Developing a prognosis or vision for the future cleantech/ecotech landscape.
- Exploring the impact of ecosystems for driving success in the cleantech and eco-tech space, including examples of successful ecosystems elsewhere.
- Creating a relevant database of the research for storytelling and narrative support.
- Creating written content to support a keynote and podcast series.
By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:
- Research report on the state of ecotech and cleantech entrepreneurship and start-up investment in Canada.
- Analysis of changes and challenges faced by founders/entrepreneurs in the Canadian cleantech and eco-tech space.
- Prognosis or vision for the future cleantech/ecotech landscape in Canada.
- Database planning, creation, and organization.
- Written content to support a keynote and podcast series.
Final deliverables:
- A comprehensive research report on the state of ecotech and cleantech entrepreneurship and start-up investment in Canada
- A database reflecting research
- Written content to support a keynote and podcast series.
Clear Communication and Expectations:
- Provide interns with a detailed orientation that outlines the goals, expectations, and scope of their research and content writing tasks.
- Clearly communicate the purpose of their work, the target audience, and the desired outcomes. This will help interns align their efforts with the overall objectives of the organization.
Training and Skill Development:
- Provide guidance on effective research methods, data analysis, and content writing techniques through examples, ensuring interns develop the necessary skills to complete their tasks.
Regular Feedback and Review Sessions:
- Establish an ongoing feedback system to provide interns with regular feedback on their work. This will include constructive feedback on their research, writing style, and the alignment of their content with the project's objectives.
- Conduct periodic review sessions to discuss progress, address any challenges, and set new goals. This ensures interns feel supported and have a clear understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement.
Promote Collaboration and Team Engagement:
- Foster a collaborative work environment where interns can engage with their peers and the OUTKOM team. Encourage knowledge-sharing, brainstorming, and collaboration.
Provide Access
- Provide interns with access to preexisting OUTKOM content, research, and project details. This will allow interns to complete their project with an understanding of expectations regarding style, depth, structure, and detail.
