About our camps: Our summer camps are 5-day day-camps, Monday-Friday, which run continuously through July and August. Our camps are broken into an online morning science lesson that follows with an experiential afternoon fieldtrip to a nature location in the City of Vancouver.

About our marketing strategy project:

We want students to help us build a marketing strategy plan for our experiential nature summer camps. Our target is to grow and engage our target market of Metro Vancouver parents with kids in Grade 1 - 7 and increase sales with them. We would like to know how we can maximize use of different channels and get recommendations to improve our messaging. This project is focused on helping to build a strategy from scratch for a young organization rather than content/ad creation or managing existing campaigns. We are looking for students to get us started on the right foot this year with marketing to make our summer camps a success.

Scope: The main questions we would like students to help us answer are the following,

  • How do parents currently perceive our brand and marketing?
  • What channels should we utilize for promotion?
  • How can we effectively generate sales as a young organization?
  • How could we better explain our value proposition?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a successful Feb-July marketing strategy that will match our market and reach our target audience
  • Assist in creating an optimized value proposition
  • Conduct light market research to create successful marketing strategies from

Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable about marketing
  • Knowledgeable about current marketing channels and creating tailored strategy for an organization/specific service

Projects Goals:

  • Assist our organization to learn marketing strategy and converting our campaigns to revenue in a way that is tailored to us. Our goals are flexible to the best knowledge student can share during their time with us.

Students Learning Value:

  • We are eager to provide an open environment for students to apply their classroom knowledge to a real organization. With less complexity and established structure than other organizations, this project provides students to largely have free reign on determining their marketing strategy and the opportunity to see direct results from their work.

Mentorship

As a young organization this project is hands-on and directly impacting our ability to run our programming. With the role asking for students who can create a marketing strategy from scratch, the mentoring/supervising is meant to foster a student who is interested in leading their own projects in the future and being able to experience the journey of bringing these type of projects to fruition in a supported setting. The role will have direct interaction with the organization's Director and Lead Instructional Designer with, at minimum, bi-weekly check-ins, the opportunity to draft plans as a team, get feedback through every stage of the process, and an opportunity to reflect and learn lessons through the project. The supervision/mentoring aim for this project is to enable the students to build skills that fit into future endeavors from non-profits, business consulting, grad school, or passion projects.
