Details

The main goal of this project is to facilitate documentary marketing to further the reach of the production company, including completing detailed logging of film footage for several projects and conduct research into viable private funders and broadcast/distribution markets and write funding applications and proposals. This is detailed work that requires diligence in digging into specifics and finding contacts for marketing resources for projects, and writing grant and proposal to broadcasters, distributors and funding bodies.

Deliverables
  • The student will view multiple hours of film footage on Dropbox and log the details on a spreadsheet to get a feel for the material that needs to be marketed
  • conduct online searches to find marketing resources and ideas for material in projects
  • enter the information of data found on Excel spreadsheets for all aspects of this work, which includes lists/tabs with names, specialty areas, URLs, submission requirements, contacts, etc. for broadcasters, streamers, distributors, and one for funders (corporations/ organizations, foundations, etc.)
  • prepare a document or spreadsheet with additional marketing research and strategies.
  • Potential writing of applications for grants and proposals for sources of funding or for targeted markets
  • communicate with company with regards to avenues to pursue to make further contacts or write proposals
  • For instance, one of the projects will be on bison or buffalo throughout the world, and the student will need to research broadcasters in Europe to find the length of programs they want, what their specific focus might be (i.e. just on animals, or a mix of cultural and animal), what their requirements are for submissions, when or how often accept subissions and who the direct contact person is. For this topic the student might also research private or external funding sources to produce a documentary and prepare an application or write a grant proposal
