The Green Career Centre’s mission is to prepare underrepresented youth for green careers. With a focus on supporting BIPOC, newcomers and women, the Green Career Centre works by and for these communities to bridge the gap between equitable, accessible and transparent social and environmental employment opportunities. With a climate justice lens and through ongoing consultations and focus groups, the Green Career Centre bridges the disconnect between these underserved communities and green careers in sustainability. We offer resources, events, and a strong network of support in order to integrate underserved communities into the green labour market in what is currently Canada.



Deliverables

Students will have several tasks to complete and can choose any of the following:

  • Researching green career development professionals at academic institutions
  • Organizing and leading a series of participatory focus groups with green career development professionals at academic institutions and underrepresented youth
  • Draft and release survey for green career development professionals at academic institutions and underrepresented youth
  • Conduct research on green employers in what is currently Canada and ways in which to effectively engage with them (i.e. webinars, trainings and guides)

Deliverables will include:

  • 10-20 page report
  • Survey with findings
Mentorship

We will support learners in the following ways to assist them with their work:

  • Weekly office hours
  • Weekly one hour check-in
  • Ongoing mentorship and career coaching
